African Club Champions TP Mazembe have beaten FUS Rabat 9-8 on penalties to retain the African Super Cup.

The game remained goalless after full-time with both teams missing several chances but Mazembe kept their cool to convert all their spot-kicks.

Goalkeeper Muteba Kidiaba was the hero for the Congolese side after scoring a penalty in sudden death.

Mazembe become only the third team to retain the cup after Egypt's Al Ahly and Enyimba of Nigeria.

Mazembe, who claimed a second successive African Champions League title last year, became the first team from the continent to reach the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.

In 2010, the DR Congo side defeated Stade Malien of Mali 2-0 to win the tournament, which pits the holders of the Champions League and Confederation Cup against one another in a one-off match.

Mazembe, which is also known as The Raven, take home the cash prize of $75000.
