Senator Jean-Pierre Bemba meets supporters at the N'djili airport upon his return to KinshasaSenator Jean-Pierre Bemba returned to DR Congo on Wednesday, August 1. He arrived at the N’djili airport shortly after 9:30am. “I’m happy to be back in my country,” Senator Bemba told reporters. Surrounded by the police, his convoy left the airport around 11am, with cheering fans singing songs in his honor.
At least 30 dead after massacres in Ituri

Officials in the area say that at least thirty bodies have already been discovered, but the search continues. National member of parliament Raymond Tchedya, who represents Djugu, is reporting fifty deaths.

Most of the passengers on the boat were Democratic Republic of Congo refugees returning home. The total number of the people who were on the boat is not yet known.
