TP Mazembe's quest for a fifth Champions League title will have to wait for another season.

The Crows conceded a narrow 1-0 loss to holders Esperance of Tunis on Saturday, but that was all the home team needed to advance after a scoreless draw in the first leg in Lubumbashi.

The Blood and Gold were more assertive in the second half and defender Ben Mansour scored on a set play on 70 minutes.

A season removed from a controversial disqualification, Mazembe came back this year determined to prove they could still compete with the best teams on the continent. They proved they are still one of the best by reaching the last-four.

Clearly no longer the dominant championship teams of 2009 and 2010, the Crows will have to improve before they can reclaim the title.

After the game, Mazembe's chairman Moise Katumbi told his team that “there is nothing to regret morally, you gave it your best… But now we must turn the page and look ahead.”
