A journalist from 'La Reference Plus' and his wife were killed in front of their house in a failed robbery attempt. Franck Kangundu, head of the internal affairs at the Kinshasa daily were assailed around 1:45 am by armed men in the area of Mombele in Limete, a suburn of the capital. The aggressors refused to take the car keys, and fired their weapons without apparent reason. One of their sons intervened but was wounded in the shoulder. The police say the attack is attributable to petty crime, which has become a problem in recent times in Kinshasa and the rest of the country, such that some representatives demanded a parliamentary questioning of the ministers of the Interior and Defense. Our source says that among the people there are also those, who fear that this attack was more than a simple robbery. Kangundu was a commentator and also a close collaborator of of Marie-Anne Lukinana, general secr. Of the Party of the People for reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD), and someone perhaps wanted to silence him.
