Russia has awarded thirty scholarships to the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), Anatoly Klimenko, the Russian ambassador in Kinshasa, said on Tuesday after meeting with the Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs, Charles Muando Nsimba.
According to the Russian diplomat, these awards will be effective next year as technical problems did not permit their use during the 2009-2010 period.
Mr. Klimenko, also announced that a Russian military delegation, including the new military attaché accredited to the DRC and military experts, is expected on Tuesday in Kinshasa. The role and place of Russia in the reform of the FARDC will be on the agenda of discussions between the delegation and Congolese officials, he indicated.
