President Joseph Kabila Kabange returned to the capital Wednesday from Lubumbashi, Katanga, where he stayed for a few days after participating in Kananga, Kasai-Occidental, in the festivities marking the 48th anniversary of independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Head of State also used his visit to launch the rehabilitation, reconstruction and modernization of roads in the province. He presided over a ceremony laying the foundation stone for the Katende hydroelectric dam, on the Lulua, and a power station in Tshimbulu to extract electricity from tbe high voltage Inga - Kolwezi power line, a joint project of the two Kasai provinces.
He also met with Mr. Armand De Decker and Mr. Herman Van Rompuy, respectively chairman of the Senate and chairman of the House of Representatives of Belgium.
