At least 15 people, including six children, were killed yesterday in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), said UN (MONUC) sources to MISNA. They noted that a group of armed men launched an attack against the small urban centre of Buba (80 km. south of Bukavu, capital of the eastern province of South Kivu) around 8:00 pm of last Sunday night. The toll for the time being is of 15 people and 12 wounded, some of whom are in serious condition, said Rachel Eclou, a MONUC spokesperson, to MISNA. The area - she added - is under control of the Congolese army and according to them the attack could be attributable to unspecified armed Hutu rebels
